Can You Dig It?

The American West. A wall of blue sky above and beneath our feet the sun-baked earth that vibrates with the history of its inhabitants. With pic and shovel, we broke through the hard surface of Mother Earth to find many treasures in her soft sand. Arrowheads, gold, and beads signaled the past presence of the native Anasazi and Paiute Indians. Each child kept a piece of treasure in remembrance of those who came before.

Hawaiian Luau in the Desert

'Our family had a Great time! The Luau was a blast.' Jasper Family 6/7/08

Grilled Kabobs, virgin pina coladas, hoola hoops and fun. What a way to spend the afternoon. We performed a scientific study and found that men lacked the coordination, stamina, and most importantly the hips, to hoola hoop. Wait. The kids were the best at hoola hooping and they have no hips either. We amend our findings. Men simply lack coordination and stamina. But, thanks for being a kid again and giving it a good spin even if it only went around once and then dropped like a sack of rocks. Practice, practice - there's always next year!

Cinco de Mayo Celebration

Hola, amigos! What is a Cinco de Mayo celebration without virgin margaritas, sombreros, and HOT & FIRE HOT peppers? The brave ones entered our pepper eating contest and tried jalapeno, serrano, and the grandaddy of all peppers, the HABANERO. I think you can tell from the faces of two of our contestants how that went. Got Milk? We ended with a buffet of tacos and frijoles. Mucho Good.

Pirates in the Park

'Aaargh, Matie. We loved being pirates for a day.' Richter Family 7/12/08

Do you remember the days when fathers and sons made soap box derby cars or moms and daughters made doll houses? At our 'Pirates in the Park' party we gave each family cardboard boxes, construction paper, newspaper, markers and a pattern. They laughed with each other, worked as a team, and created their very own pirate ships. A pirate parade and a pinata full of eye patches, tattoos, and gold coin chocolates completed the fun.

Native American Artists Blackhawk and Jesse Kalu

'We loved our stay! Everything was just perfect. The Native American flute demonstration was the icing on the cake. Thank you! The Madsens 6/10/08

Zion National Park was once home to the Anasazi and later the Paiute Indians. We honor this land's history by sharing with our guests the music and legends of the Native People.
